Is Classical Revolution PDX an ensemble?

We’re not an ensemble – we’re a whole community of musicians who engage in classical music in a lot of non-traditional ways. From open-mic-style chamber jams to educational outreach to guerrilla street performances to professionally produced alt-classical shows, we do a lot to make chamber music accessible to everyone!

What do you define as “Classical” music

Everyone has an idea on this one – and we welcome them all! From early music to well-known classical repertoire to 21st-century genre mash-ups – you’ll hear some of it all at our events. We like being more inclusive than academic!

How big is Classical Revolution PDX?

As a grassroots network, it’s hard to measure – we have hundreds of musicians on our mailing list who participate regularly, and over a thousand Facebook fans! As a 501(c)(3) organization we are all-volunteer and still a start-up – no paid staff, we do this because we love it!

Is this a chapter of a national Classical Revolution organization?

All Classical Revolution groups share a mission to make classical music more accessible, but we are all independent organizations. Classical Revolution PDX was the 2nd CR group to form, in 2007. (The San Francisco group was the first). We became an independent Oregon nonprofit corporation in 2011.

How can I get involved?

Plenty of ways!

The best: come to a Chamber Jam, bring your instrument and music stand and play, or just say hi and see what it’s all about.

Other ways to contact us are listed on our contact page.
